The Art of the Coaster: An Obsession

This may seem a little strange, but I absolutely positutely love coasters.  No doubt about it. I guess it started back in my junior year of high school when my friend Kelly went to the East coast for Christmas break and the souvenir she brought back were coasters of the WWII poster with Rosie the Riveter and the slogan "We Can Do It."
I kept these coasters in the side pocket of my car door all the way until the end of my Freshman year of college when I noticed the coaster on top was a little sun-damaged. Coasters are not just for preventing water circles (which can be atrocious), but they are also for moral support!  Kelly actually went back East again during out sophomore year of college and bought me some more coasters with a colonial ship on them.  Now I have started a collection.
I was at Target last week looking through the rummaged Halloween stock and I noticed myself gravitating toward the Halloween coasters.  They were amazing!  I actually did buy these amazing 4-pack of beaded pumpkins for only $5.  This experience made me realize that I notice coasters wherever I go - something I've never realized about myself.  I guess the bright side is that a coaster collection is a little more unique than a coin or stamp collection?  My ultimate dream for when I'm older is to have this bookshelf with an individual shelf for each type of coaster in my collection.  It'll be right next to my rockin' record collection.  Bottom line, if you can't think of a gift to get me, any coaster will do!
