There Is a God...

I haven't been writing any blog posts lately because I feel as though nothing I do is worthy of a blog post...until tonight.  I was on my way to a meeting for church with my friend Ben and as we were waiting to turn left to get on the freeway my car died.  It felt like I just accidentally let the clutch out, so no big, right?  Nope.  I try to start it and the car just kept turning over and over, but it wasn't catching the gas or something.  I ain't no car expert, but it didn't sound good.

After a few tries we decided to push the car over to the side of the road so we could call someone.  By some weird chance, a tow truck was sitting right on the side of the road where my car was.  The tow truck guy comes up and asks if we need any help and in the back of my head I'm thinking, "nuh-uh hunny, I ain't paying 200 bucks to get my car towed!"  So like any proud feminist, I kindly declined his offer for help.  Well, since I know squat about cars, we weren't in good shape.

I resorted to calling my grandpa to come pick us up, so we sat in the car while we waited. We were just chatting about reasons why this happened, such as the Lord had decided to smite me because of my numerous sins or we weren't supposed to go to the church meeting.  Finally, as a last ditch effort and as a sarcastic joke I tell Ben, "Now I'm a bettin' woman, so let's say that if I try to start the car right now and it starts, there is a God, and if it doesn't start, there isn't."  Of course in the back of my head I'm thinking, "yeah, right this isn't going to work, but at least I made a funny joke."  I turn the key in the ignition and give it a little gas...and low and behold the car starts!  Without any hesitation I start to make my way home and luckily we made it safely.

The weird part: the car is starting just fine right now and everything seems okay. Whether it be that God is trying to send me a message or it was just an unlucky Sunday night, at least I have a great story for fast & testimony meeting next month!
